Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. She was known as the co-star of Prince's 1984 movie Purple Rain, and the lead singer of the girl group Apollonia 6 Apollonia is a singer/actress who was christened by Prince in 1984, became one of the female musicians of the 80s that benefited from Prince. Patricia Kotero began her acting and modeling career in Santa Monica California, in the latter half of the '70s. The first time she appeared was on CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the female lead of Prince's Purple Rain (during which time he changed her name) as well as replacing Vanity as a member of the female group Vanity 6 which performed in the film under the name Apollonia 6. The three scored a minor hit with Sex Shooter but it was in the role of Prince's duet partner in Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she achieved more of an impact on charts. Kotero's association with Prince came to an end when the duo were at odds over the direction she was taking in her career. Apollonia 6, the group that she belonged to had a split. She appeared in several minor films during the time however, she was not able to be in her role in the Purple Rain sequel Under the Cherry Moon. Between 1985 and 1986, she was offered a role on the evening drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia's debut album came out in 1988. However, the R&B/dance songs were not a huge hit by those who bought music. The album soon vanished. In the years that followed, she remained an active actor, with a few film appearances and a few TV series. Apollonia published a Spanish/English CD entitled Stay with me in 1997. After getting back to university and earning the degree of filmmaking, she started her own production business.
