Linda Edna Cardellini is the daughter of Lorraine (Hernan), a mother and Wayne David Cardellini (a father) and who is a businessman. She is Italian through her father's grandfather. She is Irish through her mom, German, English, Scottish, and German. Linda is the youngest of California's children is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area. She began her interest in acting at age ten, when she was a singer in a Christmas production at school. Also, she performed in school plays and community theatre. Following her role as Lady Rose MacClare in the period drama series Downton Abbey (2012-2015), her breakout role was the title role in the film of fantasy Cinderella (2015). James went on portraying the role of Countess Natasha Rostova for the television adaptation War & Peace (2016). James also appeared as Baby Driver (2017) and in period television dramas Darkest Hour (2017) and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (18) and The Dig (2021), and in musicals Mamma Mia! We Go Again 2018 and Yesterday (2019). Her performance as Pamela Anderson in the biographical show Pam & Tommy (2022) was nominated for the Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy Award.
