Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. After her father's departure from her household, the actress was raised up by her mother, godparents and grandmother. When she was a young girl Ford experienced anxiety related to an obsessional disorder. Ford was first fascinated by acting when she was a teenager, and she joined the National Youth Theatre. She was accepted into Sylvia Young Theatre School but after a week, she decided that she didn't fit in. Ford was then able to apply for a place at the Central School of Speech and Drama and was accepted on her 4th attempt. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler as a regular character for Doctor Who. Ford received her degree in 1993. Before that, however, Ford made a television debut on Surgical Spirit in an episode in the year 1991. Ford took the professional name Catherine Tate. Tate began her TV debut in 1991, appearing on television shows like The Bill. Men Behaving Badly. and London's Burning. She also worked regularly at the theater, ultimately being a part of in the Royal Shakespeare Company for its 2000-2001 season. Tate gained recognition as a stand-up comedian and became part of her resume in 1996.
