Kristen Anne Bell (born 1980) is an American actress and singer. The parents of Kristen Bell are Tom Bell and Lorelei Frygier and both are television news directors. Her family was birthed in Huntington Woods Michigan. Kristen is Polish (mother's) and German (father's), English, Irish and Scottish ancestry. Kristen realized her potential within the industry of entertainment at a young age. In 1992, she was awarded her first part in an audition for Raggedy Ann & Andy. Bell's mother established her with an agent when she was 13 and she was subsequently cast for television and newspaper commercials. She also started taking private acting classes around this time. Bell was in a role of minor importance, uncredited for her part in Polish Wedding (1998), in 1998. Bell was part of the music and drama club in Shrine Catholic High School. In her school's production of The Wizard of Oz, Bell was cast as Dorothy. Bell was then transferred to New York City, to the Tisch School of the Arts. She was a musical theatre student at the Tisch School of the Arts. Bell dropped out of school in 2001 to take on the character of Becky in the film Tom Sawyer. It was also in 2001 that Bell made her first appearance in a credited film, Pootie Tang (2002). Unfortunately her scene was cut and the credits are all that depict her. In 2002, Bell was in the Broadway revival of The Crucible with Liam Neeson as well as Angela Bettis.
